Oh, That Chair!

My best friend just had her 17th birthday last Friday at the classic "Lighthouse" restaurant. I was told by elders that this restaurant was relatively old but served quality food. Their specialties include seafood and Filipino cuisine. I loved the food, there was no doubt about that (yeey, baked scallops). What caught my and my company's attention was the extravagant sofa set by renowned Cebu-based designer Kenneth Coponbue. Most of the guests were skeptical about what we were talking about. We mentioned the designer and they were like, "Oh, that chair!". An opportunity is very expensive to let go of, so here we are with pictures!

I may not be able to give you a very comprehensive entry as of now. The lady is busy coping up with school. Watch out for Miss UP Cebu though, and vote for Rejzl Awit!

Not a Written Exam

I guess the examination fever just never dies down, does it? Me and my classmates took another one just this afternoon but it was not written. Yes, you got it right - NOT A WRITTEN EXAM. Yahoo! What's not written is practical.. And what we did was practical. It was our BC101 (Audio Procedures and Production) practical exam on literally untangling wires, attaching them to the right adapters, plugging them in to the right sockets and making the whole thing work. Something like putting a sound system together. Finish within a time limit of eight minutes with your partner you get a 1.0, provided you get it right. If not, there's a two minute allowance to fix things. And if you still don't get it right, then say hello to a full flat 5.0. Apparently, I don't have any pictures of us during the actual test but what I can show you is how we were practicing for the it. :)

The job might be mind-boggling but it's a one of our joys as a masscomm students. :)

Time to Go

I just finished a midterm exam yesterday on our Constitutional Law course and it was no joke. I felt like we were taking a "mini" bar exam. Ten questions, all essay, critical analysis. Our bodies hit critical too! Haha. That exam drained me up even until today.

.

Given what happened yesterday, I don't have any interesting stories for the past days. I lived my life in a box with the law. Seriously. Not to despair, I have a cool program that I recently discovered which you might want to download to discipline yourself with the computer. I know how it feels to be so tempted to use that alt + tab shortcut when working in between papers. This might help.

Time to go
Its a freeware where you can program your desired time to stay online. Cool isn't it? Helps you fight that urge to open one new tab to a social networking site.

I hope I could be of help!:)

Mister Tan Dun

I happened to come across this conductor in the video when I was viewing the Youtube Symphony Orchestra play "Eroica". Watching him waver his hands with passion in a comical manner caught my attention.

I "googled" for his name and dissected through what I could find (google could be very helpful at times). Aside from being a conductor, Mr. Tan Dun also composes scores for different people and purposes. He alos creates scores for films, among which he did include Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero.

He came from a Hunan village in China from a family of peasants. Thus, he utilized them to form a musical group when he had fallen in love with music. To escape from the commune, Tan Dun allowed himself to be employed by the Beijing Opera when the ferry capsized near their place. From there he went to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and further moved to New York City to pursue a doctorate degree at Columbia University. He makes his sound distinct by using non traditional and organic instruments or at least making his piece sound like it.

Fiddlers on the gate

It's been a looooooooooooooooong time since I played with the CNU String Ensemble for the obvious fact that most of us are already in college. The group started even way back when I wasn't in highschool. In the middle of our sophomore year, me and my other classmates were admitted to the group with no hesitations. So, when the CM texted for an invitation to play on the 15th of January, I excitedly said yes without thinking about what's going to happen. And alas! We found ourselves playing our instruments on top the elegant gate.

Will this be the last? I hope not. We'll keep the music playing. Not for show and definitely not to threaten other existing groups but to show our bonds have not been broken. (OsmeƱa 2011)

Music of the Harp

I don't know if all of you know David from the Bible but let's assume that you all do. Oh alright, I'm going to give a teeny bit of a background. David was the son Father of Jesse and was the second king of Israel. At a very young age, he was chosen to be king. He was the one who defeated the famous Goliath and the psalmist. Studying David from the contextual view of the Bible made me discover that he also played the harp.

I have never seen anyone play the harp but has heard - Sweet, tender and relaxing. My grandfather used to have one in his home but never played it. The trusty man who used to tune it every week was the one who did. Anyway, last Saturday, my friend played the harp during her debut.

I was amazed at how she did! Although it's still a musical instrument and I'm a musician myself, a harp is something out of the ordinary. We are not in the olden days anymore and seeing someone play this instrument totally brings amusement.

Personally, I was inspired. She played Canon in D by Pachelbel, a piece not so far from ours. Then and there, music is what binds us together regardless of instruments, culture and beat.

From this Moment

After seven years of courtship and a blossoming relationship, both my student-teachers Ms. Leonicel Ducay and Mr. Jerome Caliguid finally tied the knot. Ms. Nice was our english ST and Mr. Jerome, Math. Me and two of my bestfriends found ourselves very close to this couple when we were having a hard time with Math four years ago. It also happened that one of us had an English tutor. That's how we come about to know them both. The rest is now history.

"I give my hand to you with all my heart. I can't wait to live my life with you, I can't wait to start"

Five in the morning and we we're all excited. The hotel room was busy packed with studio lights and cameras.  Five more hours later we were at the church with our tummies lurching. The place was filled with tears when the bride walked down the aisle, much more when they exchanged vows. Truly, the prize of true love is immense happiness.

I truly positive the both of them will live their lives as sweetly as they could in each others arm. From that moment on, they are now binded as one. Truly inspiring. :)

Stay in love,

Silly Childhood

Take a walk down the streets of the neighborhood and you would notice less kids than how it was ten years ago. Back then, our afternoons were always colorful. We used to play with our slippers in the game tumba lata or run around the cracks of the street in patintero and even hide behind trees under the limelight for tago-tago. I doubt kids these days know what they are. The children of today are branded as the "digital babies", hence their love for everything digital. My seven year old cousin craves for flash games on the computer. I couldn't imagine myself surrendering my 20-20 vision very early. Needless to say, I'm proud to have been part of the generation who knew how to run around with a Good Morning towel on his/her backs.

Childhood friends

If the world cannot keep up with technology replacing good 'ol childhood games, I hope and I pray that parents would have the initiative to do so. After all, it's their duty to teach their children. I don't think a simple childhood outdoor game would do any harm, wouldn't it? It can even pave way to family bonding time.

Enjoy the rainy season.

P.S. I'm the ltitle round girl with a silly hair clip and short hair. :))

Back to reality

The holiday season is now over and we're doomed to be back to reality. By reality, I mean back to school and work for some. A number of people around my age are starting to grumble about the loads of stuff to be done. Hey, I've got a fair share of mine too! Due to the craziness of this world, we're headed to let our screws loose.

These garnishes can't probably be spiders.

Maybe just a mild loose will do, what do you think? Haha. Enjoy going back to reality.

Hugs and much love,

Feanne
