Jeepneys care too, you know?

For the whole month of April, I've been amazed by the segregation move of the Cebu City government. Amazed and maybe a bit doubtful. You see, I've had the opportunity to bring the topic of having an "eco-cebu city" to one of the councilors in the said city but he told me it wouldn't be possible considering the many factors the city has to face. Well, anyway the irk of the Inayawan dumpsite urged these men to strictfully enforce R.A. 9003 or the ecological solid waste management act. A lot of people complained about the system. The Malata or Biodegradable waste would be collected on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while Di-malata or non-biodegradable would be collected on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not from the city. :)

This move forced several establishments, residences and mere common trash bins to have two bins to provide for the segregation. I thought this only applied to Cebu city. In the humble municipality of Consolacion where I live, I happened to ride in one of the jeepneys while on my way to the promenade. As I was about to pass my fare to the driver, I noticed something just behind the driver's seat.

Pretty neat. :) It doesn't need a sanitary landfill to overflow for us to do so nor does a statute from the mayor. Not even an enforced on a non-enforced law. If we want to help the environment, then we can and we do. The jeepneys in our place care. How about in yours?
